Acerca de esta escucha

Twenty-two-year-old Ivy Morgan isn't your average college student. She, and others like her, know that humans aren't the only thing trolling the French Quarter for fun... and for food. Her duty to the Order is her life. Four years ago, she lost everything at the hands of the creatures she'd sworn to hunt, tearing her world and her heart apart.

Ren Owens is the last person Ivy expected to enter her rigidly controlled life. He's six feet and three inches of temptation and swoon-inducing charm. But letting him in is as dangerous as hunting the cold-blooded killers that are stalking the streets. As Ivy grows closer to Ren, she realizes that she's not the only one who's carrying secrets that could shatter the frail bond between them. She is no longer sure which is more dangerous to her - the ancient beings threatening to take over the town or the man demanding to lay claim to her heart and her soul.

I enjoyed listening to this book. The narrator was excellent. There is no new mythology in this book about the fay but it kept me riveted nonetheless. It was a bit predictable as well. But on the whole a good book. Will definitely read the next part of this story.

Predictable but good

I really enjoyed this first book. A very interesting twist from the Fae stories created that I have read so far Karen Moning & Lexi Blake Thief series being my other favs. I found word Torn should be coming out late fall........that's now?!?

AWESOME NEW SERIES!

Wonderful read, I especially loved Tink. The narrator did a really job bringing him to life. I definitely laughed out loud several times, especially the “Braveheart” chapter.

Inthralled.

This book was amazing. It is part of a Trilogy so it ends with some questions.
This book has a good strong heroine named Ivy. The male lead REN is well um yummy to say the least. He is a man of few words. However I love his straight forwardness. He never leaves you wondering where he stands in things and I love that about him. The two have some amazing chemistry. I live their banter. I believe my favorite character is Ivy’s roommate Tink. He cracks me up.
Jennifer L Armentrout is one of my favorite authors and she did not disappoint with this book. I can not wait to read the next boom Torn.
The narrator for this book was decent. I didn’t like some of her character voices. But all in all she did a good job.

This story has be hooked

Jennifer L. Armentrout has once again spun a tale that offers a different twist to the over done stories of the Fae. Her characters are engaging. I love Tink, by far the most adorable secondary character EVER!! HE MAKES ME LAUGH OUT LOUD!!!

A very different take on the Fae

Absolutely amazing! Started off a little slow, but since I LOVE JLA I had to finish it and I'm so glad I did! I literally said "WHAT!?" when it ended. I mean I kind of guessed things, but I didn't think it'd end so soon! JLA is such a great author! The narrator was amazing also! The voices and tones are perfect!

AH-MAZING!

Honestly, I'm not sure what to rate this story. I went with a 4 because it wasn't a bad story....but I had issues. But maybe those were just "me" issues, so I chose 4. I'll explain my issues below.

First, I'll begin with narration. Overall a fine job. A few moments where it was overly dramatic but nothing that bothered me too much. She has a pleasant voice.

Now to the meat.
1. It does contain a couple of obvious errors. So obvious that I wish the narrator had fixed them even though I know they have to read exactly what they're provided. It wasn't overwhelming and there weren't a ton, but the few it did have were glaring. Still, I expect a couple, even when I'm reading/listening to BIG name authors. It happens to everyone so I didn't count off for that. Just wanted to note it for those who can't deal with any errors whatsoever and assure those who can deal with them that there are minimal occurrences.
2. The characters were pretty fleshed out. I enjoyed some of the banter and rolled my eyes at other parts. That I know is a me thing, so I didn't count off for that, either. I'm not all that young and don't really lust over people I just met, so I don't connect to that sort of thing. It seems to be commonplace language in most similar novels, so I assume it reflects real life people. Of course, there was the typical "I can't" moments one expects in a romance, which also garner an eye roll from me because it is so predictable at this point.
3. Speaking of predictable, this is where I had my biggest problem. Before the story really even got started, I knew the "plot twists". As soon as they mentioned the obstacles, I already knew who was what and what would occur. Zero surprises anywhere. I could have stopped as soon as they mentioned Ren's reason and I would have ended with the same result as I did after listening to the full thing. Foreshadowing is cool. Twists are great. Making it obvious is not so good. And that's where I had trouble deciding how to rate it. The plot is coherent but it's also laid out from the start. I read the blurbs for the next book and I can already guess what happens there, so I won't be using a credit. I've read super obvious books before, of course, and with some, Ive even gone on to purchase the rest of the series. But those had something else that kept me with the series. Whether it was a character or a world build, Ive felt compelled to continue. I don't feel that here, so I'll be stopping at this point.
4. Writing styles are varied, and different readers enjoy different things. If you prefer authors like Jordan or Tolkien, you might not like the easier style of this one. If you like more modern UF sort of things, check out the sample and see. I like a varied collection of styles, so I had no issues with the style.
5. And finally, if I had to pick a favorite character, I'd have to go with Tink. Pretty sure he was put in for a good bit of comic relief and I do like a fun sidekick(usually more than the MC).
Overall, I'd have to say that if you're looking for something unique or surprising, look elsewhere. If you want a story similar to those in the same category, give it a try. Some enjoy reading familiar books that vary little, and there's nothing wrong with that. I'm just not one of those people.

3.5?
